Windows 7 is the latest and one of the most successful versions of what has become the most popular operating system in the world. In a world where computers are more and more relied upon, this does say something about the OS. The operating system, as we got used to from previous Windows releases, comes with great improvements in terms of reliability, but also with a much more catchy look and lots of eye candy to please us more than just in terms of efficiency.
On top of an increase in graphics options, Windows 7 also comes with better display options – including new wallpaper options. Here is how you can choose a new wallpaper to decorate your Windows 7 computer:
- Locate the button containing the Windows sign, in the lower left side corner – also known as the Start button. Click on the Start button to open the Start Menu.
- The Start Menu will have two sides – one with the most commonly used programs and one with some handy options. Go to the right side and select Control Panel. In the menu that pops up, select Desktop Background.
- Out of the available options, select “Change Desktop Background”. Choose among the many options Windows offers or select your own picture.
Another option, slightly shorter, implies right-clicking on the current desktop background and choosing the “Personalize” option in the menu that pops up. The screen that will appear will include all your desktop wallpaper options.
Please note that, just like Windows Vista, Windows 7 offers the option to alternate between wallpapers at given periods of time. That means that you can select more than one picture to place on your screen. Windows 7 groups its images according to various general themes, so that it will be easier for you to find what you may be interested in. After you have selected the pictures you wish to display, Windows will let you choose between various periods of time that will pass in-between changing the pictures displayed on the desktop. This way, you don’t have to change your wallpaper manually, it will basically change itself.
Once you have selected the pictures you would like for your desktop wallpaper slide show, you also have the possibility of saving the newly created theme on top of the themes that Windows offers by default.
If none of the above options satisfies you in terms of what you would like to appear as your desktop wallpapers, Windows 7 offers you the possibility of downloading more themes with the “Get More Themes Online” link that you will find in the upper right corner of the Desktop Background screen.
All in all, Windows 7 is the Windows version that allows for the most creativity and best choices in terms of how your computer will look – without requesting much technical skill from you. Take advantage of all the available options and choose something that represents you and improves your experience while working on a computer every day.
